4 Weeks & 5 Days Pregnant

This entry was added on 4 January 2007.

I am so used to putting Anna first that I have to constantly remind myself that I need to rank myself an equal priority right now (although since she complains louder, I'm sure she'll still be first for a while). We went on the train ride at the park today and we sat closer to the front than we should have because I could smell the exhaust the whole way. My first thought was that this wasn't good for Anna but then I realized that it's not good for me and Baby either. Same with something we were eating at lunch today, I picked out a deli turkey sandwich and I wondered if it was really OK for Anna to eat but remembered that I probably shouldn't be eating it either. When I was pregnant with Anna all I had to think about was me and Anna. I guess this is part of the adjustment of having two kids already. Anna has to wait for me to go to the bathroom more often already, too. I realize she will probably be a pretty different kid by the time Baby arrives as well.

I don't feel very different this week than pre-pregnancy except maybe getting tired more easily. I haven't hit extreme fatigue yet and no morning sickness yet, either. It probably doesn't help that I took last week off from running so that I have to kind of start all over there, too. My current plan with exercise is to keep up running as much as I can until it gets uncomfortable. I am keeping an eye on my heart-rate and am having to stop and walk several times during a run to bring it down. I am taking care to not get overheated as well. Luckily there is a lot of shade on the trail that I run on or, on weeks like this when Craig is out of town, I wouldn't be able to get out with Anna in the stroller. We will probably end up going to the Y soon, but right now she's got a runny nose/looks like she's teething so that will probably wait until after Anita goes home (Anna can stay here with Anita if I go to the Y next week!). I am disappointed that I won't get to run the 10-miler this October, but I can make that a goal for after Baby now.

For the record, I bought some disposable gloves and am changing the litter myself this week, although I am not excited about that at all. The nurse said it was fine to do as long as I washed my hands afterwards (which I am doing, too), but I remember last time I asked the doctor and she said "no way!" So, I'm not sure if I'll continue to do it myself or if I'll recruit the neighbor next time Craig is out of town.

According to Your Pregnancy Week by Week, Baby is .014 inch to about .04 inch (.36mm to 1mm) in length.
