Day 1 Status: Alive

It was as bad as I anticipated. We're all alive though so that's what is most important. The specific problem, as I see it, is that Sarah is not your typical newborn and doesn't just fall asleep at the drop of a hat. There was a lot of running up and down the stairs, attempting to get Anna to whisper, etc. It wasn't pretty and I don't know what to change for tomorrow's game plan to make it better. At least Craig came home at the end of the day with pizza and ice cream to make things end well!

The highlight of the day was this afternoon I took a 1.5 hour nap while Sarah slept for 2 hours and Anna took a nap as well. The lowlight of the day was when Anna felt she needed to rearrange her dollhouse furniture and occupants just so when she was supposed to be in bed. I guess tomorrow I'll know to ask her to arrange those things before she gets in bed.

This all sounds SO familiar to me. Just make sure you have lots of DOVE chocolates on hand so you can sneak a piece when you can't STAND it anymore. If I remember right that sleeping at the drop of a hat doesn't happen for a few more months. Hang in there--it just gets better, really!

Dove chocolates? I recommend a glass of wine! Pump & dump, baby, pump and dump! Of course you might want to wait to do that until you and Craig have actually accomplished the task of getting them both to sleep!
I don't think I should read your blog for the next couple of weeks though, it will definitely scare me with #2 on his/her way!

"Alive" is good. I sending good thoughts your way. Miss you all so much.

Actually-keep the Dove chocolates AND the wine handy....My friend (L and D nurse as well as a Lactation Consultant) says you CAN have a glass of wine or a beer, without having to dump. Yippee I say! By the time it gets digested, and turned into milk, there is nothing to transfer to the the baby. So girlfriend-go ahead and INDULGE!
It will get better-although we are 5.5 weeks in and I have plenty of moments when I could tear my hair out and cry buckets of frusterated "poor me" tears.

Good luck, pick your battles and remember that it will pass and we will be onto other battles.
