I knew that having Henry's birthday party the day after the marathon wasn't ideal timing but it was really for the best. I didn't want to have it while Anita, Brian, & Corrine are here, and I knew that most of his friends won't be around at the end of July. So, today it was. I got a lot of the prep done yesterday and had Craig make the cake (chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate chips on top!).
To say that Henry was excited about his party is a major understatement. He kept asking about my marathon this week (he wanted to know when was I ever going to run the marathon!) and I finally realized the only reason he was interested in my running the race was because his birthday party was after the marathon. (As for me, I was unable to walk up and down the stairs but I wasn't particularly sleepy until afternoon, even after just two hours of sleep this morning.)
Henry & his friends had a good time but when the two hours was up, I could tell that Henry was ready for the party to be over.. I think it might have been when he said, "I am ready for my guests to go home now" or something similar.
